Beta Crosstrainer 300 - Xtrainer

MotoUSA had the honor of testing the all-new 2015 Beta XTrainer 300, an entry-level enduro off-road bike that isn't intimidating for beginners but offers plenty of performance for experienced riders to enjoy. The XTrainer is slightly smaller, has a lower seat height, is lighter and delivers ultra smooth power...

We finally get our hands on the long awaited Beta Xtrainer for a test ride review over several days and with various riders. Don't be fooled by the trainer in 'crosstrainer' - it is a good entry level dirt bike but can be a real weapon for experienced riders too in tough terrain. Definitely a great cross trainer bike for our cross training style of riding! This test ride review of the Beta Xtrainer includes summaries from other reviews as well...

BETA XTRAINER & TREVOR CAMPBELL: awesome dirt bike skills!
The Beta Xtrainer gets a good workout courtesy of Trevor Campbell, enduro and trials rider. Beta call this an 'entry level' enduro bike but many are surprised at how fast and capable the Beta Xtrainer is for all sorts of dirt riding, for beginners to advanced enduro riders although you may need stiffer springs if pushing the Xtrainer hard!

Beta Xtrainer VS Beta RR300
Since our own reviews on the Xtrainer, there have been a lot of questions about how it compares to the Beta RR300 and other two stroke enduro 300s, and whether we would recommend one or the other for different types of riding.
First a quick summary of the Beta RR300. Like the entire Beta enduro range, it's a seriously competitive bike if racing, but proving very popular for everyday riders due to its lower seat height, very usable power, and handling characteristics.
The Xtrainer is based on the RR300 but has a detuned engine, a lower seat height, less weight, and suspension more suited to slow technical terrain.
The critical part, how do they compare when riding? Apparently everyone is impressed with a graph so we did this one up, pause to have a look. For the vast majority of us trail hacks, there is a lot of overlap between these bikes, unless you main do fast open riding, or are simply a very experienced aggressive rider, although as Trevo Campbell found, the Xtrainer is still bloody fast around a track.

What is the FX Mountain Moto - fxbikes

It’s the world’s lightest performance-off-road motorcycle, a super-lightweight dirt bike that crosses over between motocross and mountain bikes to form a totally new category of ‘mountain motorcycle’ – that’s why we call it Mountain Moto! From our experience, riders who enjoy FX the most are riders of enduro bikes and trials bikes and mountain bikes. If someone is a purist, only enjoying one type of 2-wheeler, they sometimes can’t adjust to the unique riding experience of FX, which really is a crossover of all these.

The FX Mountain Moto is perfect for seasoned adventure riders to explore virgin territory, or for virgin dirt bike riders to explore a new world of adventure! The FX Mountain Moto can be used for trail riding, play riding, hill-climbing, racing, hunting, and commuting without having to slow down for speed bumps! It offers the best of both worlds, mountain bike and motorcycle.

For off-road he wedges a polystyrene block between the bike and the spare wheel to make it extra stable.

Hidden Motor In Road Bike

Femke van den Driessche Wilier Triestina bike with motor

Mechanical doping - Bicycles with motors
The first case of mechanical doping has been discovered by the UCI at the U23 women's Cyclocross World Championships. There have been accusations made against past riders about having motors in their bikes, but until 24hours ago, none had been found.

Hidden Motor demonstration with Greg LeMond
Think the UCI is crazy to be checking for hidden motors before races? This might convince you that it's possible...

Caught cheating in sports: Belgian pro-cyclist found using bicycle with hidden motor - TomoNews
A motor such as the Vivax Assist, can be installed in the seat tube in a bicycle frame, reported Cycling Tips. Hidden motors can be powered by a battery, placed either inside the bicycle frame, in a saddlebag under the seat, or in a faux water bottle. The devices can be operated in a number of ways.
According to Gizmodo, a sensor installed close to the pedals and connected to the motor detects the cyclist's pace. At higher speeds, the motor runs faster, helping the rider move quicker. Another way to use the motor is by pressing a switch or lever on the handlebars.
Cycling competition regulators can detect motors by using a computer that reads radio frequencies emitted by the devices, or with the use of X-ray machines similar to the ones found in airports.
The practice, also known as "mechanical doping," can lead to a heavy fines as well as long bans for offenders.

Mechanical Doping – How Does A Road Bike With A Hidden Motor Ride?
Hidden motors are big news in cycling. We now know that they have been used in at least one race. And, we suspect that they offer a huge advantage to those riders who use the. We got our hands on one to find out how feasible it is to use one, what they bike actually feels like, and, finally, whether they can turn a donkey (2016 Dan) into a racehorse 2011 Dan...

KTM 1290 Super Adventure Review

The KTM 1290 Super Adventure represents the pinnacle of modern motorcyling. It's fitted with cutting edge of technology yet the rider aids are only as intrusive as you want them to be. The 1290 Super Adventure comes with almost every imaginable gadget yet the focus is still on riding and it plays the role of sportsbike, tourer and off-road capable adventure bike all in one.

It’s almost like an electric bike’s power plant. When the engine setting is set to sport mode, acceleration is viciously quick and would put some sportsbikes to shame. Despite the immense power on tap, fueling is near perfect – it’s completely manageable and controllable even when accelerating hard out of turns. Selectable modes of comfort, street, sport and off-road change damping settings while the onboard computer ensures that the actual damping is continuously adjusted in real-time to the riding style and surface...

1290 Super Duke R vs Tuono V4 1100 Factory

The Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory vs KTM 1290 Super Duke R are so equally matched E-i-C Kevin Duke and I nearly resorted to jello wrasslin’ in an effort to determine a winner. Even then we didn’t do such a good job, nitpicking over a few subjective personal preferences is what it came down to in the end. The microbial pubic hair of difference in the ScoreCard is nary worth mentioning, and probably begs a rematch with different editors aboard to see if there’s a change in outcome. But if you’re curious as to how this fight...

KTM 1290 Super Duke R Testdrive & Review
This TERRIFYING motorcyle... terrifies me.. Its AWESOME!
Surprinsingly easy to ride though - I was going faster through the bends that I usually can go on my own bike... and it felt SLOW. Incredible!

Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory Review - Motorcyclenews.com
It’s hard to believe how a production road bike can cover ground so quickly, with such little effort. The steering is light and accurate, the traction control cossets and never holds you back, the quickshifter is the best in the business and there’s huge amounts of feel and grip in, through and out of corners.
And with its Swedish suspension units keeping everything in check, the Factory tempts you to hold the brake harder into corners and begs you to get on the throttle harder when an apex flashes past your knee.

It has the DNA of a superbike on the track, is fun, safe and practical on the road and built with the precision and quality of a Swiss watch. The seat is more comfortable and a reshaped nose fairing cuts down the windblast. It’s full factory sportsbike perfection.
Forget your track-focussed race-replica superbikes - the Aprilia Tuono V4 1100 Factory is the best road-going performance bike you can buy, bar none.

Cleveland Motorcycle Werks - Cleveland CycleWerks

Cleveland Cyclewerks have a bike for everyone! Cheap, affordable and solidly built.
Today I got to ride Cleveland Cyclewerks complete range of motorcycles. I give a brief review of my experience of each bike: The Hooligan 450R, tha Heist, tha Misfit and the Ace. The Hooligan was probably the bike I would most likely buy, it would be a great lightweight bike, on road and off. Tha Heist is the cruising bike, the poor man's harley, a tonne of cool but a little getting use to with the hard tail. Tha Misfit I rode was stock standard, it felt solid and safe, a great base on which to start a custom project. But my favourite for the day was the custom racetrack Ace. It had a tonne of low down grunt, had an easy riding position and put a huge grin on my face, riding the unmaintained Cleveland city streets.

RideApart - $3,000, brand-new motorcycle Just $3,195, both the Cleveland CycleWerks Misfit cafe racer and Heist bobber massively undercut every other motorcycle out there. At just 250cc, they're also smaller than most bikes. Bargain or bogus? Grant and Wes take CCW CEO Scott Colosimo riding in the California desert to find out. For more on motorcycles and CCW

I recently had the opportunity to test ride the all new 2015 KTM 1190 Adventure that is absolutely packed with safety features and all manner of electronic wizardry... Did I like it?

Adventure 1190 R review: a superbike for the dirt
With a 148-horsepower superbike engine and a wet weight over 230kg, the Adventure 1190 R is a monster of a bike - but significantly lighter and more powerful than some of its Adventure competition. Behind the Scenes of RJ Anderson XP1K3

The "Sound and Fury" edit brings that consequence to life giving you a behind the scenes look at the crashes and failures when testing a scene! More than a year of planning went into the development and execution of the “XP1K3” campaign. It took the build team of 15, more than a month to weld, stack, cut, bend and fabricate the custom playground with multiple obstacles. The Mad Media crew of 40 then spent 14 days on location battling dust, rust, rain, mud and fog to capture each of their incredible imagined obstacles...

UTVUnderground RJ Anderson XP1K3
“XP1K3” is five-minute full throttle, turbo powerd, mind bending, off-road thrill ride through the most unforgivable obstacles imaginable. RJ Anderson fearlessly attacks massive jumps, high speed drifts, and treacherous man-made terrain in his custom 200 horsepower Polaris RZR XP Turbo. XP1K3 was produced by motorsports production powerhouse Mad Media in the post apocalyptic dystopian decay of abandoned steel mills, old factories, and train yards...and features an array of massive obstacles spread out over six locations in Youngstown, Ohio. Shot in stunning 4K resolution!

KTM 1050 Adventure Review

Good review with decent information relayed. It looks to me like the bike a lot of riders want and seems not many manufacturers understand...

KTM 1050 Adventure is the fourth bike in KTM's adventure travel lineup and also the least powerful. It comes in as the cheapest of the range but still has a host of good gear such as slipper clutch, traction control and switchable ABS. But is it a worthy addition to KTM's range?

Some personal thoughts on why I chose the KTM 1050 over the 1190
when I wanted a touring bike to complement my light CCM 450 Adventure. Why spend more money on something I don't really need? So what do you think about the 1050?

2015 KTM 1050 Adventure (Akrapovic Exhaust) Test Ride & Review
First ride of the 2015 KTM Adventure trying to understand why is this bike £3000 more than the Yamaha MT-09 Tracer or £1500 more than the Triumph Tiger 800 XRx. There are a lot of things I like about the V Twin such as the low end grunt, the rather nice vibration and the safety aspects of a modern KTM (ABS and traction control come standard) but the seat height is as high as the price tag and doesn't give me the confidence at low speed especially on a slopped surface. This bike is not for short riders like me but once you get going it's fantastic. The Akrapovic exhaust system sounds just amazing...
