2016 KTM 690 Duke Review
Duke line starts with the 125 Duke and tops out with the 1290 Super Duke R – yet still has room for a pair of Dukes in the displacement range that started the line in the form of the 609cc 620 Duke I. Before we go any further, we need to step back from the current KTM image to remember that, way back prior to 1994, KTM only manufactured dirt-focused motorcycles. The Duke was the company’s first street bike, and the meaty center of the 2016 Duke line is filled with that first Duke’s direct descendants, the 690 Duke and 690 Duke R.

2017 KTM 790 Duke Prototype Twin-Cylinder
Promo video from KTM
THE SCALPEL 125, 250, 390, 690, 1290. What’s next? In terms of displacement, we can’t really make a case for growth. KTM can, however, justify the hunt for unparalleled poise. Telepathic levels of feedback. Lightness that’s off the scale. Our engineers are highly motivated to establish a new level of riding sensation. The first proof of these huge efforts: the inspiring prototype “790 DUKE”. An inline twin emerged on the blank sheet: the LC8c. That ‘c’ stands for compact, ‘LC8’ for good times ahead.
They fitted their 790cc gem with a tight suit tailored from hand-welded steel pipes, the finest suspension components from WP prototype development as well as a beautifully machined aluminum subframe and tail cowl. And in order to slingshot this lightweight another couple of light years ahead, advanced ride by wire, next-generation rider assistance, integrated connectivity and tomorrow’s sensors are here today.
But that’s not the end of it. Imagine a quickshifter that takes its name extremely seriously. Custom ride modes. Personalized traction control. Outrageous design by KISKA. And – hold the press – there’s a 3D printer involved in the production of both the exhaust system and triple clamp. They are out of this world...
Prototype unveiled - 2016 EICMA
This is the first official hint – beyond multiple spy shots and KTM boss Stefan Pierer confirming the 800’s existence to MCN during the summer – of the style and intent of KTM’s new family of middleweights.
Highlights
All-new 800cc parallel-twin
First of a new family of 800s
Custom rider modes & TC
This is all a little way off though, so don’t expect to be wandering into your local dealer with your bank details any time soon. We’d expect to see a production version of the 790 Duke unveiled this time next year, with the bike arriving in dealers in 2018. And it might not be alone if Husky are working on the adventure model, too.

2016 Adventure Bike Shootout
The one overriding edict in choosing this year’s consortium of adventure bike players is obvious from the story’s title – spoked-hoops, which essentially demonstrates a manufacturer’s commitment to the off-road worthiness of its bike. The introduction of Honda’s new Africa Twin has the potential of re-racking the pecking order in motorcycling’s hottest category, so we gathered five of its likely competitors that are either top-rated or recently updated. The Honda bridges engine displacements, ranging from Triumph’s 800cc Tiger XCx to Yamaha’s 1199cc Super Ténéré ES, and we also included ADV icons like KTM’s 1190 R Adventure and BMW’s what-will-they-think-of-next R1200GS Adventure, plus Ducati’s radical A-T entrant, the new Multistrada Enduro.
Rideapart's Jim Downs heads to The Pirelli World Test Center in Giarre, Sicily for the Ultimate 2016 ADV Motorcycle Shootout between The Ducati Multistrada 1200 Enduro, Honda Africa Twin, KTM 1190 Adventure and the BMW R1200GS.

2017 Suzuki SV650
Suzuki has brought back the SV650 name, but has it brought back the magic that made the original a cult classic? In this video, Motorcycle.com Features Editor Troy Siahaan, a former SV650 owner and racer himself, takes the new SV for a spin during the model's U.S. press launch to see if Suzuki hit the mark, or hit a dud
RevZilla.com Review
With the challenge of living up to one of the largest legacies on two wheels, the hype around the release of the new Suzuki SV650 was as robust as the list of accolades is long. With such a pedigree for versatility, longevity, and general rider-happiness, Spurgeon was amped to get out to California and see what the 2017 edition to this time-tested lineup had to offer. In the Suzuki SV650 First Ride Review, Spurge and the RevZillaTV crew set up shop in the mountains north of Los Angeles for a spirited bit of riding along roadways that were obviously designed by a motorcyclist-at-heart. Accompanied by an article in Common Tread, this video documents Spurge’s initial thoughts, feedback, likes, and areas-of-improvement for one of the most popular bikes on the road… and the ZLA parking lot.
2017 Suzuki SV650 vs Yamaha FZ-07
In 1999 Suzuki introduced the SV650, a bike that went on to be immensely successful among novices, experts, and everyone in between. The key to its success—a charismatic V-twin, ultra-easy handling, and it wasn’t stupid expensive. After a decade or so of success, the SV faded away and Yamaha’s FZ-07 arrived in 2015 to fill the void. Now that the SV is back for 2017, we had to know if it’s good enough to keep up with Yamaha’s new king of the category. Luckily, that’s exactly the kind of question that Ari and Zack like to answer.
Suzuki's SV650 Takes on the Competition
Here's the test you've been wanting to see: the new 2017 Suzuki SV650 vs. Yamaha's FZ-07. Both are $7000, have twin-cylinder engines, and cheap suspension and brakes. They're both bare, essential motorcycles that pack a lot of fun into an affordable package. For kicks, however, we brought along the KTM 690 Duke and a special guest – a 1999 Suzuki SV650. How do they stack up? You'll have to watch the video to see.

Yamaha MT-10 vs Ducati Monster 1200 vs BMW S1000R
It's the battle of the naked bikes; Yamaha's MT-10 up against the old school charm of the Ducati Monster 1200R and the new thinking of BMW's S1000R. Is any one really better than the others or is it simply a case of horses for courses?
Yamaha MT-10 vs BMW S1000R Visordown road test
Two super-nakeds using the blistering engine and frame of a flagship sports bike, both detuned from about 200hp to exactly 160hp - Yamaha's MT-10 and BMW's S1000R couldn’t be more closely matched. So which is best?
