Honda CRF250 Rally

Honda CRF250 Rally Coming Soon Earlier this year we showed you the Honda CRF250 Rally concept, the 250cc production equivalent to Honda’s rally raid competition machine, the Honda CRF450 Rally.

That machine appears ready to move from concept to reality, as Honda has trademarked the name in both Europe and the USA, and we expect to see the lightweight adventure bike drop, sooner rather than later. Before you get your Dakar hopes up, the Honda CRF250 Rally is based off the Honda CRF250L, the more sensible sibling to the Honda CRF250R. This will mean less power for off-roading nuts, but it will also mean more palatable service intervals, as well as stone-cold reliability.

The Honda CRF250 Rally make a good bookend to Honda’s latest adventure-tourer, the Honda Africa Twin. With a heavy 1,000cc machine, and now a lightweight 250cc machine coming to market, the clock is ticking until we see Big Red bring into production the Honda CRF450 Rally for regular blokes.

So I'm cruising on a lovely farmland backroad yesterday, when suddenly it goes from lovely pavement to uphill gravel. Being the novice I am, I noped right the fuck around...but not before noticing how much much ball tickling fun the gravel road looks like, if I knew what I was doing, had proper tires, and my bike didn't weigh 450 lbs. So I get home and start researching lighter, dirt worthy bikes.

Enter the dual sports! When trying to gather more info on the Yamaha tw200, I stumble upon this http://www.advpulse.com/adv-bikes/crf250-rally-new-honda-adventure-bike/ and then onto the regular CRF250l. From what I've read through various sites, folks are pretty skeptical this bike will make it to the US, why is that? Also, what level of mechanical profency does it take to swap out to a different, more coverage fairing like the rally edition? tl;dr gravel bad, dual sport good
